Not all of this author's
books are humorous. He had just completed a book which
was rather onerous for him to produce, but it was one that he knew it should be in print.
For some relief after that
book, he referred to his general sources of personal writings and this book, IT WAS
AMUSING TO ME, is the result.
This book is nonfiction and
honest. This means that it does not always reflect well on the author. This is but one of
the reasons others will likely be amused by it.
The book is in four sections --
Section I is email excerpts from many years of
correspondence with interesting people.
Section II is miscellaneous observations & provocative
thoughts on many, varied topics.
Section III is a large selection of true stories about many
subjects: Fatherly Wisdom; Guilt; A Dog’s Political Affiliation; Why Young People
Scare; Busing Through Mexico; the Samba and Drinking in Brazil; and an all-night
discussion with a cab driver in Cold War Berlin; etc.
Section IV is about the various jobs the author had before
starting his career. (His career was detailed in SOLDER SLINGER.)
IT WAS AMUSING TO ME has 134,000
words. In a 6x9-inch soft bound book that is 438 pages. It is one-inch thick.
